Audience feedback
1. 1. Who are the audience? Are they the group you initially targeted?
My targeted audience was males and females aged 16-25 who listen to R&B and Hip-Hop. I got a few comments from other students and they said:
Landis: “your magazine looks like it is mainly aimed at males, this is because it the front cover image consist of three females that look attractive and are engaging with the reader by looking at them”.
Naomie : “I would say that your magazine is aimed at females in there mid – 20’s probably because the images in the magazine are female dominated”.
2. How are particular social groups represented- fans of particular music, age groups, defined by social class /gender / ethnicity..? Are these representations positive, negative, mixed?
Vybz’s magazine mission is to show and value the positive features of hip hop and RnB music, it is made to inspire and influence the society with the urban movement as well as trend setting. It also highlights the success of black artists and females.
Naomie: “people of a black ethnicity are represented in your magazine (front cover). However if you had added images of males somewhere in your magazine, for example contents page, it would be slightly clearer that you magazine is aimed at both males and females”.
3. Which elements of the magazine does the audience like?
Cheyanne: “one element I really liked about your magazine is the photography. This is because it looks professional for example on the contents page; the images match up with the titles”
naomie: “ I liked the fact that the teasers contained interesting information to keep the audience appealed so that they could continue to read through the other pages”.
4. What could be improved?
Landis: “overall, I think your magazine was done at a good standard and looks professional, however the front cover would look better with a few more teasers on the left.”
Stacey: I think you should have added more colour to your contents page as it looks to plain also the contents pages seems as it don’t have enough writing.
5. Looking back at feedback you received from the college magazine, how do you feel your technical and creative skills have developed?
I personally think that my skills have improved and develop using Photoshop and InDesign. When I started of I didn't know much about some of the software’s I used to create my college magazine, now I feel more confident about what I am doing and can achieve my target idea.
