Evaulation (question 3 & 7
Evalution question 3 &7
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Because my magazine is based on R&B and Hip-Hop, it would be published by the same distribution as Vybz's magazine which is Len Bernett. This is because as a publishing company they are highly successful and recognised in the industry. They have a large portfolio reaching over 19 million consumers per month. Founded by producer Quincy Jones in 1993, the publication predominantly features R&B and hip-hop music artists, actors and other entertainers. My magazine would be the company’s first music magazine that appeals to R&B/Hip-Hop music and would gain a lot of publicity because of this.
7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I think that looking at my college magazine; it is not as sophisticated and professional as my music magazine, this is because I had done a lot of research in between that time and also used my newsstand and case studies to inspire me. I also had more knowledge about camera, lighting colour schemes and shot types while doing my music magazine which was a huge advantage.
I also think I have learnt a lot more about planning and improvisation. During the preliminary task I planned a lot with the software I knew about but not that much with the software that I didn’t know about. This meant that I had to rush and improvise with certain parts of the tasks. I now know that everything needs to be planned before it is done so that you can work easier, although some things can be improvised such as models at a photo shoot. I have learnt that planning creates more effective work because you can also have it critiqued and be able to improve it before.
Discovering my target audience also had an impact on my music magazine because it help me understand what certain age groups are more interested in, it also helped me with the photography and how I wanted the models to look and act.

Task 11 Evaluation- Question 4
Task 11 Evaluation- Question 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
My target audience would be teens and young adults because that is a large generation, which is generally associated with rap and hip-hop, but showing that young people can also enjoy jazz music will expand the fan base. I want my magazine to be aimed at both genders; this will encourage more females to become rap, grime,r'n'b musicians/singers, as it seems to be a mainly male dominated genre of music. It will be aimed at any social class as jazz is well rounded genre/genre for everyone. The hobbies and lifestyles of the readers would probably be focused around creative aspects for example music lovers (concerts/festivals/parties,shakeboarding,paintballing etc), people who enjoy drawing/painting and other artistic forms like dancing or drama.

Task 10
Who are the audience? Are they the group that you initially targeted?
My targeted audience was males and females aged 16-30 who listen to punk music. I got few comments from other students and they said:
“Naomi : The magazine looks as if it is aimed at mostly a female audience as most of your photography is dominated by female models. I'd say the age range would be older teens to mid twenties.”
“Laylah: Your magazine looks as if it has been aimed at a female audience aged between 16 - 20 that are hipsters.”
The audience pretty much guessed the target age and gender for my magazine which was initially targeted.
· How are particular social groups represented- fans of particular music, age groups, defined by social class /gender / ethnicity..? Are these representations positive, negative, mixed?
My models for cover page was punk/retro/ubran artist. There is no social class definition for my magazine. The gender which is represented on my front cover is male so the audience might assume that the magazine is targeted for female mainly listeners.
Audience feedback:
Naomi : Teenagers who are most likely to be female are represented in your magazine. You should have used more of a varitey than one ethnicity so it is appeal to a bigger audience.I think they are represented as carefree teenagers which can come across as a positive thing.
Laylah : I think your magazine represents care free male audience, you have used not only one ethnicity so this will target any male audience between the ages of 16-20.
· Which elements of the magazine does the audience like?
Naomi: I like the colour scheme of your front cover because it is very vibrant and bold. Your photography is good as well as the layout of your DPS. I like how you have contrasted the colours well with eachother.
Laylah: I think your colour scheme as it goes very well with your genre. You writting stands out very well. And the photography looks really good.
· What could be improved?
Naomi: Your contents page looks like you could add a bit more to it such as text and the layout of it should be changed around a bit.
Laylah: I think you should have added more colour to your contents page as it looks to plain also the contents pages seems as it don’t have enough writing.
· Looking back at feedback you received from the college magazine, how do you feel your technical and creative skills have developed?
I personally think that my skills have improved and develop using Photoshop and InDesign. When i started of i didn't know much about some of the software’s I used to create my college magazine, now I feel more confident about what I am doing and can achieve my target idea.

Feedback evaluation
Today we were told to give our classmates feedback on their music magazine - this included the feedback on the front cover, DPS and contents page.
I had received very good feedback on my DPS and my front cover which was a great to hear. My class mates especially like my colour scheme , my images and my layout. I was very pleased with this feedback as they were part of the main elements of producing a good magazine. In my contents page I didn't get that much good feedback and probably was my weakest point of my magazine. "The front cover image is the same as the contents page....you should add more pictures on the contents page" - this was a frequent comment that i had received. The image on my front cover and my contents page are different due to the fact that the model has a different facial expression. Perhaps i will need to add a different image in a different location or do a photo shoot in the studio. I would consider this comment and try and book the studio if i have time(I'll probably use a different model). It was also mentioned that i need to add in more regulars and lacking a little information on my contents page.
In order for me to improve my magazine i will be making some changes that were suggested and some changes that i see that will need to be made.
